Ed Bernik
wide ranging locations, based in Northeastern, Pennsylvania
Bernik has spent a lot of time in Europe, but returned to his native Northeastern, Pa. which
is actually in the far northwestern corner of the state. Figure that one out. His focus is on
western Pennsylvania where he teaches photography at Edinboro University. He has
published several collections of his work, most recently
Pennsylvania Wilds and a series of
books on Route 6, which passes through the Allegheny watershed. Early in his career he
travelled out west where he met Ansel Adams several times. His interest is in "vision." After
viewing a couple of his photographs you'll have to agree that his is quite unique, capturing
the spirit of wildness in nature. He has worked extensively as a commercial photographer
and is one of the area's leading boosters through his work.
